Getting started
What is Cleo?
Cleo is a personal AI assistant you wear on your wrist. Instead of pulling out your phone and opening an app for every little thing, you simply press a button, say what you need, and let Cleo handle it.
It’s designed to make everyday interactions with technology feel more natural, with an animated face that gives your assistant a little personality.
When will Cleo be available?
We’re currently turning our working prototype into a wearable you can use every day. We’re still testing the hardware and refining the experience before making Cleo available.
Join the waitlist to hear about our progress, the first release, and when pre-orders open.
How much will Cleo cost?
We’re still working out the details. We’ll share pricing before pre-orders open, and people on the waitlist will hear from us first.
Does joining the waitlist cost anything?
Not at all. Joining is free, and it doesn’t commit you to buying anything. We’ll only use your contact details to send you updates about Cleo. You can leave the waitlist whenever you like.
Using Cleo
How does Cleo work?
Press the button on your watch and tell Cleo what you need. Your phone handles the processing, and Cleo gives you a response through the watch or your connected earphones.
The watch is designed to be your interface, while your phone does the computing behind the scenes. That means you can access your assistant without needing to pick up your phone and navigate its screen.
What can Cleo do?
Cleo is being built for the little tasks that interrupt your day. You can use it for things like:
- Setting reminders and timers
- Sending messages and handling supported call actions
- Checking your calendar
- Taking notes and keeping simple logs
- Getting directions and quick answers
- Controlling music and podcasts
- Using connected AI to handle more complex tasks involving services like email and calendars
We’re continuing to develop and test these capabilities. Some features depend on your phone, operating system, and whether you’ve enabled Connected mode.
Does Cleo always listen to me?
No. Cleo is designed to listen when you intentionally activate it. It doesn’t continuously record your surroundings waiting for a command.
You decide when to speak to it by pressing the button.
Does Cleo talk back?
Yes. Cleo can respond out loud through the watch. If you have compatible earphones connected to your phone, responses can play through them instead.
Can I use Cleo without touching my phone?
That’s the idea. You interact with Cleo through your wearable, while your phone runs the software and connects to the services you use.
Some features may still require your phone, its permissions, or a confirmation from you. Cleo is designed to reduce how often you need to reach for your phone, not to replace it entirely.
Which languages does Cleo understand?
Cleo supports English and Hindi, with more languages planned. We’re continuing to improve recognition across different accents and real-world speaking conditions.
Does Cleo need an internet connection?
Not for everyday tasks that can be handled locally, such as supported reminders and timers. Your phone can process these without sending your requests to a cloud AI service.
Tasks that need online information or more advanced AI may require an internet connection. For example, searching the web or asking a cloud model to coordinate information across your services requires connectivity.
Can Cleo work with my existing AI assistant?
Cleo is designed to work with cloud AI models and connected services through its optional Connected mode. You can configure your own AI provider credentials, depending on the supported integrations.
The goal is to let you access more capable AI through a wearable interface, rather than having to open a separate app every time.
Your phone and your privacy
Which phones does Cleo work with?
Cleo is being developed for iPhone and Android. The watch connects to the Cleo app on your phone over Bluetooth.
Feature availability may differ between operating systems, especially for integrations such as calendars, reminders, and messaging. We’ll share the supported devices and features as we get closer to launch.
Do I need to create an account?
Everyday features are designed to work without requiring a Cleo account. Connected AI features may require credentials for your chosen AI provider or connected services.
Where does my voice data go?
For locally processed requests, speech recognition and action selection run on your phone. Your requests aren’t sent to a cloud AI service by default.
If you enable Connected mode, the information needed to fulfil a request may be sent to the AI provider and services involved in that task. What gets shared depends on the request and the integrations you choose.
We’re building Cleo around intentional activation, local processing wherever practical, and clear user control over actions.
What is Connected mode?
Connected mode is an optional way to give Cleo access to more capable cloud AI and services you use, such as email and calendars.
For example, you could ask it to find a free half-hour in your calendar and prepare an invitation, or find information in your email. These more complex tasks require the relevant integrations and permissions to be configured.
Will Cleo send messages or change things without asking me?
No. Before Cleo carries out a supported action that affects someone else or changes something, it presents the action for your confirmation. It only proceeds when you approve it.
You stay in control of what gets sent or changed.
Do you sell my personal data?
No. We don’t sell your waitlist details or share them for advertising. For information about what this website collects and how your waitlist details are handled, please read our Privacy Policy.
The wearable
Is Cleo a smartwatch or a fitness tracker?
Cleo is primarily an AI assistant designed to help you get things done through conversation. It’s not intended to be a conventional smartwatch or a medical-grade fitness tracker.
You can use supported features to set reminders or keep simple logs, but Cleo doesn’t diagnose medical conditions or provide medical advice.
Does Cleo tell the time?
Yes. When you’re not interacting with the assistant, Cleo returns to its watch face, so it still serves as a watch when you’re not using its AI features.
Can I use Bluetooth earphones with Cleo?
Yes. When compatible earphones are connected to your phone, Cleo can route its spoken responses through them. This gives you a more seamless way to interact with your assistant without relying on the watch speaker.
Will Cleo be available as a ring or pendant?
The watch is our starting point, not the limit of what we want to build. Over time, we want to explore other wearable forms, including rings and pendants, so people can choose how they want to carry their personal AI assistant.
Our long-term goal is to make Cleo an assistant that fits naturally into everyday life, across different devices and form factors.
How long does the battery last? Is it water-resistant?
We’re still testing battery life and water resistance on the wearable hardware. We’ll publish specifications once we’ve tested the finished device, rather than giving estimates that may not reflect the real product.
